While Europe is already planning the rest of the season, America is still looking on from the distance when they will be able to kick the ball again. On Friday, Colombia took an important step for it.
The Ministries of Work and Sport met with the Colombian Association of Professional Footballers. This led to a coming together for the return of football.
"The support for the authorisation of individual training is very important, the Minister of Sport is looking forward to resuming it in June," said Carlos Gonzalez Puche, representative of Acolfutpro.
Ernesto Lucena, Minister of Sport, even gave an approximate date in which the first matches could be played. "If nothing strange happens, football will be back in about three months' time", i.e. in August.
Furthermore, at that meeting there was no express authorisation from the Colombian government to suspend contracts. "Therefore, all legal options will be advanced to guarantee the income of football workers in the midst of the crisis," said Acolfutpro.
