The Chile international ruptured his achilles in training earlier this week - the type of injury that will see players out of action for most of the season. Although the 'keeper will undergo further testing this week, it is expected that he will be sidelined for around six months, leaving the 'Citizens' with only one fit senior goalkeeper in the first-team.
Pep Guardiola has already sold two goalkeepers this summer that he could have relied on as back-ups. Although both were chasing more first-team experience, Joe Hart, 31, and Angus Gunn, 22, would have been simple replacements for Bravo, who was in line to start the majority of cup games for the Catalan's side. However, Hart and Gunn departed to Burnley and Southampton respectively.
Daniel Grimshaw, 20, is now the only other goalkeeper in City's squad after being promoted from the youth set-up in summer, though according to 'Sportsmail', Pep Guardiola could also recall Aro Muric from his loan spell at NAC Breda.
Grimshaw proved his talent for Manchester City's EDS and under-19 squad last season and was pivotal in their UEFA Youth League campaign, where City reached the semi-finals.
Muric, 19, spent last season as City's third-choice goalkeeper but was allowed to leave on loan in the summer to gain experience. Muric has represented Switzerland at youth level and has been likened to a young Manuel Neuer.
