Manchester City has managed to tie down one of its biggest gems. On Wednesday, Tommy Doyle signed his first professional football contract with a grin stretching from ear to ear.
At 17 years old, the central midfielder has put pen to paper on the deal, alongside academy director and former youth coach Jason Wilcox. The player then posted the moment in a photo uploaded to his personal twitter page.
The promising young footballer, that joined the 'Citizens' academy as a five year old, marked his twelfth year with his boyhood club by committing his long term future to City.
Doyle has already managed to win the U18s Premier League and the UEFA Youth League during his time with the club's EDS (elite development squad).
In the offices of the current Premier League champions, they even dare to speak Doyle's name in the company of club legend David Silva; as many at City believe that the young England midfielder could one day emulate the achievements of his superior, at both club and international level.
Doyle has already been fast-tracked to training with the under 23 side, and so it perhaps comes as no surprise that he is firmly on the radar of senior squad manager Pep Guardiola.
