Manchester City have gone back to the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 0-2 victory over relegation threatened Fulham. City were totally dominant from more or less the opening minute, as their quadruple mission carries on for another week.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring after just 5 minutes with a sublime finish from just outside the box as City punished Fulham for a poor pass. Timothy Fosu-Mensah made a poor pass which was picked off by Kevin De Bruyne, who gave it to Sergio Aguero, before Silva hit home into the bottom left corner.
Sergio Rico had a busy afternoon in the Fulham goal, with City having 24 shots on the Fulham goal, an excellent save by Rico denying the returning De Bruyne a fantastic goal as his curling effort was tipped over the bar superbly by the Spanish keeper. City had all the possession virtually all match and unfortunately when Fulham had the ball, they could not keep it for long.
When they finally got into the game a little bit, they committed another error, losing the ball in their own half which CIty ruthlessly turned into a goal through the ever fantastic, Sergio Aguero. A lovely pass by De Bruyne and Silva, and then a superb finish from a tight angle and Fulham found themselves 2 goals down.
Gundogan, Sterling, De Bruyne and David Silva all had good opportunities to extend the lead, but none of them took their chances, giving Fulham a bit of hope. However, the London side couldn't register a shot on target until the 88th minute, and even that was a tame free kick deflection, that dribbled into the hands of keeper Ederson.
The win takes City top, a point ahead of Liverpool, who play Spurs tomorrow in the key clash of the weekend. A draw sends Liverpool top again on goal difference, however City do have a game in hand, although that game in hand is a Manchester derby. Fulham are now all but relegated back to the Championship after a defeat which leaves them perilously close to the drop zone.
