"We wanted to go further, but we couldn't. In Qatar in four years we will do better," Cherchesov said to thousands of fans in the Fan Zone in Moscow.
The Russian coach thanked the support from fans, saying that they made up "players 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16" of the team.
"It will be difficult without you (in Qatar), so (let's get) everyone there," Cherchesov proclaimed to the fans.
The 2018 hosts were knocked out of the tournament after a long, difficult match against Croatia in Sochi, which received praise from fans and critics alike.
The next World Cup will be played in Qatar from November 21 to December 18 2022, and organisers expect around 1.2million fans to attend.
