Chelsea star Cole Palmer loses perfect penalty record

The 22-year-old lost his perfect penalty record after squandering the chance to put Chelsea in front in the first half against Leicester City. The Blues had earned the spot-kick after Victor Kristiansen's clumsy challenge pole-axed Jadon Sancho.
Cole Palmer seized the ball as he looked to end his drought, only for Mads Hermansen to deny him with a superb save. The England forward was later substituted, making it seven games without a goal or assist in the Premier League.
It was the first penalty miss of his career - in official matches for a senior team - after forging a reputation as an expert from 12 yards. Prior to the blunder, Palmer had converted 12 attempts in a row in the English top flight and had also netted one spot kick for the Three Lions.
Speaking on the failed spot-kick after the 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, Enzo Maresca said: "Cole didn't feel well during the night”. People need to understand the effort he made to be there. He is a top player. Everything is normal now."
Despite the agonising run of form, Palmer is still having a great season for Chelsea. He has scored 14 goals and 6 assists for the Blues this season and could still end his career among the best penalty takers in the league's history.
The midfielder remains the holder of the Premier League record for most penalties scored without missing after surpassing Yaya Toure (11). The pair are just ahead of Dimitar Berbatov (9) and Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves (both 8).
