In the last few hours, Shakhtar Donetsk's management surprised everyone and confirmed an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk, when everything seemed to indicate that the Ukrainian would leave for Arsenal.
"FC Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov and Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali discussed Mykhailo Mudryk’s transfer to Chelsea FC today. Parties are very close to agree on player’s transfer to the club," the Ukrainian club said through a statement posted on Twitter.
The truth is that the London team will pay the sum of 100 million euros to sign Mudryk, who will arrive in England in the next few hours to sign his contract until the 2030 season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea intend to unveil the Ukrainian this Sunday at Stamford Brigde when Graham Potter's side take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Mudryk was initially on the verge of signing for Arsenal, but the Blues went ahead and agreed a last-minute deal with Shakhtar to sign the 22-year-old.
