Chelsea legend Zola to take over at Birmingham
The Championship club surprisingly sacked Rowett, with the side sat in seventh place in the Championship, just one place and one point off the play-off places.
Birmingham seem to have acted quickly to find a replacement and are set to hold talks with the former West Ham and Watford manager in London this week.
Zola is said to be keen to return to management and was linked with the vacant manager's position at Hull earlier this season, before the job was eventually given to Mike Phelan.
The former Chelsea man is odds on favourite to become the next manager at St Andrew's, while the former Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is the second favourite at 9/1.
