Racism continues to be a big problem in the footballing world and it provokes tension in the stands. A section of the Italian fans who travelled to Scotland for their Europa League match passed through the streets behaving disgracefully.
The home fans responded in the stands during the match. They displayed an image of Mussolini getting hung with the message "Follow your leader", inviting the rival fans to do something that they perfectly understood.
Now the 'Green Brigade' fear that UEFA will sanction their club, therefore they have decided to start a fundraising campaign. The aim is not to pay the fine, but to donate the money to two charities.
In the fans' statement, their antifascist and antiracist motivation was made clear. It is a reminder of Celtic's immigrant roots and that they have a special bond that will never be broken. The aim is to show UEFA that the fine is completely unnecessary.
