Ceballos considers options away from Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid face several challenges, particularly in midfield. With Luka Modric's role diminishing and Dani Ceballos exploring his options, the situation remains fluid. While contracted until 2027, the Seville-born midfielder isn't ruling out a move, with Real Betis keenly observing.
Speculation intensified when the player arrived in Seville for his holidays: "Betis is my home and always will be. I hope the door is always open for me. We'll talk after this week. Meetings to return? We are open to everything," he told El Chiringuito de Jugones.
AS reported that Real Betis are considering bringing Dani Ceballos back eight years after he left, for a maximum fee of ten million euros. This valuation conflicts with Real Madrid's demands, who would only sanction the midfielder's departure for around double that: twenty million.
Despite being contracted to the club for another two seasons, his playing time remains severely limited. Xabi Alonso only gave him 70 minutes at the Club World Cup: half an hour against Pachuca, seventeen against Salzburg, and 23 in the victory over Borussia Dortmund.
From the Basque coach's perspective, Fede Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham, and Arda Guler all rank above him. Even Bellingham's injury might open a window, but Eduardo Camavinga presents another strong option. Guaranteed playing time is scarce, making a departure his most logical course of action.
It seems Real Betis hold the key. The dilemma stems from a blend of desire and resentment at the Benito Villamarin towards their former academy product. He had the option to return in 2023 when his contract expired, but ultimately chose to renew at the Bernabeu until 2027.
Manuel Pellegrini is now without Johnny Cardoso and William Carvalho. Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos is eager to regain a pivotal role, with the 2026 World Cup a clear target. Given Xabi Alonso's decision to relegate him to a secondary position, it is understandable that the Utrera native is weighing his alternatives.
