Porto informed this Thursday that Iker Casillas evolves favorably and without suffering complications after the myocardial infarction he suffered this Wednesday. The Portuguese club released a statement in which they explained that the goalkeeper "continues interned, evolving favorably within what's expected and without any complications," without giving more details.
Casillas, who will turn 38 this month, was admitted to the CUF Hospital in Porto, where he had to undergo a catheterization after the heart attack and at whose doors are several members of the Spanish and Portuguese press.
The club's doctor, Nelson Puga, said on Wednesday night that the Madrid goalkeeper is going to be "perfectly recovered," although he warned that we will have to wait to know if he can continue playing football at the highest level.
As the Portuguese club points out, it is still too early to talk about the future of the Spanish goalkeeper. "The important thing now has been to resolve this acute situation, an emergency situation that was important to be resolved in time. We're calm now, he's calm too and we want to reassure everyone. He will recover perfectly and very soon we will be able to talk about his future," said part of the text.
"It is too early to talk about the future because it will depend on many factors. Once all the factors have been assessed, very calmly, we will be able to assess and decide whether he will continue, whether he wants to or not. We are absolutely sure that he will recover perfectly," added the club.
In the meantime, 'Goal' points out that the Spanish goalkeeper will have to keep a rest period without making major efforts for at least two or three months.
Iker Casillas has spent his first night in the hospital alone and as 'AS' points out, the night has been quiet and closely followed by all the hospital's medical team. His wife, Sara Carbonero, arrived early this Thursday morning to accompany the goalkeeper in the medical tests.
"Everything is calm and good. Let me pass with my children," said Carbonero at the entrance of the CUF Porto hospital. Only his wife and his children have been allowed in this Thursday with Casillas.
