Even if Danny Mills thinks that Matty Cash must not leave Aston Villa to sign for Atletico Madrid, there are other people who think differently. Former Aston Villa player Frank McAvennie told 'Football Insider' that the full-back should try playing in Spain, where he would be happier personally.
"Atletico Madrid's proposal is a difficult one to turn down, Birmingham or Madrid? It's all to do with money these days, I'd love to say it's to do with the team, but it's not like that. He's going to get more money in Madrid and he's going to have a better way of life. It's a different culture and he'll like it. That, as well as having the opportunity to win things," he said.
"I also love Aston Villa, they're a great club, but they aren't at the level of Atletico in terms of winning trophies. If it's betwee Atleti and Villa, going to play for Diego Simeone would be magnificent," he also said. Former Villa boss Alex McLeish told the same media outlet ('Football Insider') that he agrees with Danny Mills: he thinks it is better for Cash to stay in England.
"He's been a true find for Villa, there's no doubt about it. I'm sure of the ambition Villa have shown in recent years, they've spent lots of money, they gave lots of money to Dean Smith, they're going to finance Steven Gerrard. There's no way of them losing their young talents. I know that Matty Cash came from another club," he said.
"They've cemented their future in the Premier League. I don't think Cash wants to leave. It's quite glamourous going abroad and playing, but it also has its dangers. Do you get to comfortable? I know it's very similar to Trippier's situation although Trippier was older. I'm sure Cash would be very happy to stay at Villa," McLeish added.
