Carrasco showed once again why he is so important for Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid. He opened the scoring for his side in the La Liga game against Betis at the Wanda. He did so in the 26th minute after receiving a low ball from Correa which he used to start a tremendous individual move.
He got into the Betis area from the left hand side and came up against Montoya. The defender could not cope with Carrasco as the Belgian did for him after moving one way and then the other. Thanks to this, he was able to go towards Claudio Bravo in the goal. The goalkeeper took a step forward to try and cover his goal.
It was of no use though because the Atletico man beat him with a lovely shot into the roof of the net. The finish was an intelligent one as normally the attacker goes for the far stick in this situation. However, Carrasco showed guts and confidence in his own ability to pull off the shot.
Atletico hit the front after taking control of the game. In fact, shortly before that, Antoine Griezmann had a good opportunity with his right foot, but, on this occasion, Claudio Bravo was able to stop him.
