Jurgen Klopp's side host city rivals Everton on Sunday, with Shaqiri set to play in his first edition of the often ill-tempered derby match.
Former 'Reds' defender Jamie Carragher has warned the Swiss just how much the match means to the club's fans, and in the same vein, has pleaded with the midfieler to do everything possible to win the fixture.
Now, Carragher has revealed that he made sure to take the chance to speak to the summer arrival after the midweek Champions League defeat to PSG, while the player was walking through the mixed zone at the Parc des Princes.
During an appearance on the 'All Together Now' Everton podcast, Carragher admitted: "I pulled Shaqiri on the way out in the mixed zone in Paris. He came over and said: 'Hello.' I said to him: 'It's the derby on Sunday and you have to win, you have to win.' He said: 'I know."
Carragher then went on to speculate as to how the hosts will set up for the clash at Anfield.
He added: "'Shaqiri will play 100%. I think he'll go back to the 4-2-3-1 system with Shaqiri on the right. Shaqiri seems to add something a little bit different."
Given that Shaqiri is best known for his 'flair' qualities, he could prove very influential against a consistent Everton side. He has two goals and three assists in 13 appearances for Liverpool so far this season.
Heading into the weekend's fixtures, Liverpool sit in second place in the table, two points adrift of defending champions Manchester City.
