The London club are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after agreeing to sell Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth. The 'Blues' are understood to be keeping their eyes on a number of players, including England stopper Joe Hart as well as the former Malaga man. As a free agent, the 35-year-old is not short of offers, with 'The Daily Mail' reporting that he has so far received offers from England, Spain and his homeland (Argentina).
Caballero was called into the City side on several occasions last year due to the poor performances of Claudio Bravo and went on to keep 8 clean sheets in 24 starts for the 'Citizens'. Despite giving a good account of himself he was released at the end of the season and replaced by Benfica's Brazilian 'keeper Ederson.
Caballero would be expected to take on the role that Begovic occupied last season, before growing frustrated with a lack of opportunities, an experienced number 2 who can step in should anything happen to Thibaut Courtois. Given his age, it is uncertain if the Argentine would be happy to spend his twilight years on the bench or whether he would prefer more regular football.
Chelsea look in line for a busy summer, with their search for a new goalkeeper continuing and reports suggesting that Diego Costa is on his way out of the club.
