N'Golo Kante went to the coaching staff and said he was afraid of returning to training over coronavirus fears as he has had health problems in the past.
The player was excused by the Premier League club and he will continue training at home until he feels it is safe to do so. He may not even return until next season.
Willy Caballero spoke to 'TNT Sports' and said the footballer's decision "is very understandable" despite having tested negative for it.
"He must have his reasons to say what he has said because he is a humble and hard working person. He said he didn't feel safe returning to training due to how he had felt in recent weeks," Caballero explained.
The goalkeeper stressed that the team respects his decision: "We all have to progress together. We respect him and we hope he feels more comfortable."
