A particular highlight was the quarter-final against Barcelona. Buffon managed to keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou, when many fancied Barca to make another memorable comeback after the Italians had already won 3-0 in Turin during the first leg.
Buffon was nominated alongside Manuel Neuer and Jan Oblak. The three of them are the best goalkeepers in the world, but the award for Best Goalkeeper in last year's Champions League went to the Italian veteran.
