Although Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford has overshadowed everyone, the truth is that Manchester United consider their mainstay to be compatriot Bruno Fernandes.
Since his arrival at the club, the midfielder has revolutionised the Red Devils and brought the Mancunian side back to competing at the highest level. The sporting management is aware of this and is therefore working on his renewal.
Negotiations, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, are a top priority for United and the club has been working to bring them to a successful conclusion since last July.
However, it seems that there is still a long way to go before an agreement is reached, as there are currently differences over the length of the contract and the salary.
It is worth remembering that Bruno Fernandes' current contract with Manchester United runs until 30th June 2025, so the Mancunian team still has plenty of time to extend the Portuguese star's stay at the club.
