Arsenal will be without the services of striker Alexandre Lacazette for at least a month after having a minor operation on his knee.

Alexandre Lacazette is set to be out for between four and six weeks after having knee surgery, Arsenal revealed on Tuesday. The French striker had an arthroscopy on his left knee in London on Tuesday morning and is now set for a period on the sidelines.

The Gunners' statement read: "The minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation. It is envisaged that he will return to the squad within four to six weeks."

The 26-year-old, who lost his place in the team with the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, missed two golden opportunities to equalise in Saturday's 1-0 north London derby loss to Tottenham after coming on a substitute.

Lacazette joined Arsenal for a then-club record £52million in the summer and got off to a strong start to life at the Emirates, with four strikes in his first six games.

He will now miss Arsenal's last-32 fixtures with Ostersunds and most likely the last-16 games, which take place on March 8 and March 15, should Arsene Wenger's side advance. He will also miss out on the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on February 25.
