That's Brazil's 9th Copa America and I think you have to say that the Jesus goal on the stroke of the half-time was a killer blow. That said, they have exceeded expectations getting this far. The final was just a step too far for them. The Peru players are said, but they should be proud of themselves.

Brazil (10) 3-1 Peru!! It's all over at the Maracana!! All the Brazilian players invade the pitch and the stadium is rocking! Peru competed really well in the first half, but Brazil were too good in the second. Jesus got sent off at 2-1, but Peru hardly threatened with the extra man. Everton and Richarlison also got on the scoresheet for Brazil. Guerrero's goal for in the 44th minute was in vain in the end.

  • 87'
Penalty to Brazil!!!! Everton goes down after a foul by Zambrano! Peru wanted a foul the other way, but that looks to be the right decision. Zambrano perhaps lucky to avoid a second yellow. The question was who initiated the contact.

It was a very stop-start first half. Peru had started the better, but Brazil took charge after Everton's strike. Peru then came back into it a bit, but they ended up equalising in the 44th through Guerrero's penalty. Jesus had the last word before the break. Join us in 10 for the resumption!

The players are now out on the pitch!! The anthems are about to be played.
  • PRVW
There's a big closing ceremony going on with songs and entertainment! There's a Brazilian and a Peruvian kid lifting the trophy and taking it to the stand by the tunnel. Plenty of other kids wearing the shirts of the other Copa America teams are just behind them.

The two teams met in the group phase when Brazil mauled their opponents 5-0. Casemiro, Firmino, Everton, Alves and Willian got on the scoresheet although both teams were pretty though so not sure how much we should read into that game. Gallese made a shocker in the Peru net for the second goal, but he had a blinder in the semi-final against Chile.
  • PRVW
It's a nice late afternoon here in Rio de Janeiro. The temperature is 21 degrees.
  • PRVW
We have Chilean officials for this game. Roberto Tobar is the on field referee while Julio Bascunan is the VAR. The duo were in action in Brazil's 0-0 draw with Venezuela when between them, they disallowed three goals for the hosts. They have swapped roles for today though.
  • PRVW
Peru team: Gallese (GK); Trauco, Abram, Zambrano, Advincula; Flores, Yotun, Cueva, Tapia, Carrillo; Guerrero.
  • PRVW
Brazil XI: Alisson (GK); Alves, T Silva, Marquinhos, A Sandro; Jesus, Arthur, Coutinho, Casemiro, Everton; Firmino.
  • PRVW
Neither side makes a change from the teams which played in the semi-finals. Brazil defeated Argentina 2-0 in controversial fashion while Peru were 3-0 winners over Chile.
