Brazil return to training with Vinicius on the sidelines

Brazil, who will face Argentina on Tuesday in a World Cup qualifier for 2026, held the first of three scheduled training sessions ahead of the match. Vinicius did not join the team for ball work, instead engaging in isolated exercises.

During the first 15 minutes of the open training session, the Madrid forward, regarded as Brazil's main star, did not wear football boots. He jogged around the field in tennis shoes, accompanied by a member of the coaching staff.

Brazil coach Dorival Junior refrained from making any statements about the decision to give Vinicius a tailored session, although his assistants had previously indicated that the player would have his workload monitored as a precaution.

Meanwhile, defenders Beraldo, midfielders Joao Gomes and Ederson and goalkeeper Weverton, who were called up late on Friday to replace injured or suspended players, took part in the session.

The reinforcements will replace Gabriel Magalhaes and Bruno Guimaraes, both suspended due to yellow cards, as well as Gerson and Alisson, who were forced off with injuries during Thursday's 2-1 victory over Colombia.

With most of the session closed to the media, Junior provided no hints about the four changes he will likely make to his starting lineup, though it is expected that Bento will replace Alisson and Andre will step in for Gerson.
