Braithwaite got injured in post-match training after the Trofeo Joan Gamper and is a serious doubt for the start of the Barcelona season. Barcelona informed in a statement on their official website of the injury that the Danish forward is suffering.
"First team player Martin Braithwaite has a left quadriceps anterior rectus injury and the evolution of the problem will condition his availability. The tests carried out this Sunday have shown up the injury, which occurred in post-match training on Saturday", the document says.
The striker came from playing several pre-season friendlies, although he didn't play against Elche, the match after which he suffered this injury. He came on as a sub against Girona and Nàstic. Before, he was on international duty with Denmark.
The length of the injury will depend on the evolution of the player and on the next few tests he undergoes. 'AS' points to three weeks. He had options to play in front of him due to Luis Suárez being close to leaving and Memphis Depay still not arriving.
