Brahim on his celebration: "Like Messi's? No, he's in a different league"

Brahim Diaz scored a stunning goal to seal Milan's 2-0 Serie A win over Juventus. After putting the ball into the back of the net, the midfielder took off his shirt and imitated Lionel Messi's 'mythical' celebration in a 'Clasico' between Barça and Madrid.

This situation sparked controversy on social networks, to such an extent that the player himself had to explain that the celebration had nothing to do with the Argentinian '10'.

"Ever since I was little I've always wanted to celebrate a goal like that and now I've been able to. I tried against Spezia, but (Davide) Calabria stopped me from taking off my shirt. It cost me a yellow card and it's clear that I won't do it again," the former Madrid player began, in an interview with 'DAZN'.

And in the same vein, he argued that the celebration, however similar it was, was not linked to Messi: "No, no... There is no comparison with that, it's impossible. He's in a different league.

Finally, Brahim recalled a goal he scored against Juventus in 2021: "It's clear that I thought about that goal, my teammates also told me that I should always play against Juve... But winning was the most important thing, we had to pick ourselves up after the defeat to Chelsea," he said.
