According to 'Marca', the 24-year-old has decided to play for Morocco instead of the Spanish national team after studying the options for a few weeks.
The same media outlet reports that his decision is final and Brahim Diaz is waiting to be called up by Walid Regragui for the March friendlies against Angola and Mauritania.
Talks about his decision have not been easy as Moroccan federation president Fouzi Lekjaa and coach Regragui have been in charge of convincing the playmaker to join the Atlas Lions.
Meanwhile, Spain boss Luis de la Fuente said that the player wanted to represent Spain at the European Championship and that he had a chance of making the final squad. However, Diaz has not been called by anyone connected with the Spanish national team and his disappointment made him make a definite decision.
The Moroccan national team have their eyes set on the Africa Cup of 2025, where Brahim will certainly play a very important role in the national team. And what about the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will organise with Spain.
