Having completed some restoration works on their stadium, Borussia Dortmund now has an extra six seats at their famous ground. Despite the extremely minor increase in capacity, the club already boasts the highest average attendance in Europe with a staggering 79,653, beating the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and their domestic rivals Bayern Munich.
Despite there being virtually no change in the capacity of the ground, the Dortmund faithful will probably have wished that the increase was a lot bigger, as their club currently has a 50,000-strong waiting list for season tickets going into next season.
This echoes a generally higher attendance figure in the German league compared to any other in Europe, with eight Bundesliga clubs included in the top-30 teams in Europe for average attendance.
The move also means there will be an increase of 248 seats in European matches, given that the stadium is not at full capacity in European games unlike in their domestic ties.
While the addition is small, anything that can add to the ground's already incredible atmosphere can only be a good thing.
