Boehly to be removed as Chelsea president in 2027: reports

Todd Boehly's days at Chelsea are numbered. The current chairman of the London club will step down in 2027, according to the 'Daily Mail'.

Boehly joined Chelsea in 2022 following Roman Abramovich's sale of the club. However, he is not the sole owner as he has joint ownership with the Clearlake Capital fund.

Both parties reached an agreement whereby the chairman of the club can be changed within five years of arrival. And those five years are precisely in 2027.

Clearlake Capital, which is managed by Behad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, holds 61.5% of the club's shares, while Boehly owns 38.5%. Despite being in the minority, an agreement was reached for him to be the first chairman.

The US fund has already decided that Boehly will not continue as Chelsea chairman in 2027. It could be Eghbali and Feliciano themselves who would take over the chairmanship.

But Boehly would have the opportunity to regain his position in 2032, provided he has not sold his shares in the club and wants to become chairman again.
