Bayern Munich beat Hoffenheim to get into the quarter-finals of the German Cup although without difficulty. When it seemed like everything was over at 3-1, the match burst into life and it finished 4-3.
Before the late drama, there was one of the scariest moments of the week and maybe the season. Jerome Boateng almost sent his opponent to hospital.
In the 75th minute of the match, the Bayern central defender jumped for a 50:50 ball with Christoph Baumgartner. It happened that Boateng went in with excessive force and unnecessarily high. He ended up catching the Austrian on the head with his hip.
After catching him mid-air, Baumgartner's neck turned practically 90 degrees and both players fell to the floor. The image looked awful, but fortunately, the Hoffenheim footballer managed to finish the match after being treated for a few minutes.
