The former FIFA President Joseph Blatter, five years on from being suspended for an illegal payment to then UEFA president Michel Platini, has revealed that he tested positive for coronavirus last month, according to 'The Athletic'.
The Swiss president, 84, said to have spent two weeks in a Swiss hospital.
"I was infected by the virus, I had a cold and a high fever, I quarantined for 14 days and I've now recovered. I'm without symptoms and willing to fight again," Blatter said. He was the head of FIFA for 17 years until he resigned in June 2015 amid a corruption crisis at FIFA.
Blatter says he only felt ill "one night" and that was when he visited the doctor and he was sent to hospital. But I had no symptoms during quarantine and I feel good," he added.
