That has been evident throughout its history, with superstars such as Alessandro Del Piero and William Gallas both having spells in the Australian league. But, instead of looking at the LaLiga live results, which current European stars can fans enjoy watching in the A-League in the 2021-22 season?
Alessandro Diamanti
Alessandro Diamanti was a crucial player for Italy during his prime, as he played an important role as the Italian national side finished EURO 2012 as the runners-up. He has also played significant roles for a number of clubs in the biggest European leagues. He has played for Serie A sides such as Atalanta, Fiorentina and Bologna, while also enjoying two separate spells in the Premier League.
Diamanti played at West Ham United in the 2009-10 season, before playing for Watford in the English top-flight. Over the past two seasons, he has been a prominent player for Western United, playing 38 times and scoring nine goals. He is often a player to watch when searching for football streaming websites, as he is a very talented player in the middle of the park.
Adam Le Fondre
Adam Le Fondre has been one of the sharpest shooters in the Australian soccer league since swapping the Football League for Australia in 2018. He signed for Sydney FC in 2018, and played 37 games and scored 23 goals in his first season in all competitions. He continued that strong form in the following season, scoring another 22 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions.
Le Fondre’s performances during those two seasons were pivotal to Sydney FC winning the A-League Championship, while they were also crowned Premiership winners in the 2019-20 season. He will return to A-League action this coming season for Sydney FC, having spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Mumbai City, where he scored eleven goals, as he helped the club win the Indian Super League.
Jordan Mutch
Jordan Mutch has already played for two A-League clubs in his short spell in Australian football. Mutch was a prominent player in English football before moving to Australia, as he played in the Premier League for Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and Birmingham City. His most impressive displays in the Premier League came during his time with Palace, as he played 20 times in the 2015-16 season, as the club ensured their safety in the top-flight.
After leaving the club in 2019, he played for K League 1 side Gyeongnam for a season, before playing for Aalesund. Mutch was signed by the Western Sydney Warriors in 2021, as he played 13 times and scored twice in the final weeks of the season. However, he will begin the 2021-22 A-League season with Macarthur FC.
Gary Hooper
Like some of the other players that we have spoken about in this article, Gary Hooper carved out an excellent career for himself during his time in England. He is the only player in the history of professional football to have scored in each of the top four domestic leagues, as well as the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, Scottish League Cup, Scottish Cup and the SPL. His spell in the Premier League came during his time with Norwich City, as he scored six times in 32 games.
The Canaries signed Hooper after his impressive career with Scottish giants Celtic, as he scored 82 goals in 138 games for the SPL side between 2010 and 2014. Hooper first played in the A-League in 2019-20, as he scored eight goals in 21 games for the Wellington Phoenix. After another impressive showing for the Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League, he was snapped up by the Phoenix once again for the 2021-22 season.
Steven Taylor
No current player in the A-League boasts the same kind of Premier League experience as Steven Taylor. The central defender was a mainstay in the Premier League for 13 years, playing over 260 times for Newcastle United between 2003 and 2016, making him a prominent player found when looking at EPL live scores. He won the Championship with the Toon, as they bounced back from relegation in the 2009-10 season. His final season in the top-flight saw him play ten times, before moving to MLS side Portland Timbers.
Taylor returned to England for spells with Ipswich Town and Peterborough United, before moving to the A-League to play for the Wellington Phoenix. He was named in the A-League team of the season in 2019-20, and will continue to be an important player for the Phoenix for the coming 2021-22 season.
