Real Madrid bounced back from the draw with Gladbach in midweek in fine style. After a poor opening 20 minutes, which saw their opponents have some clear opportunities, they recorded a comprehensive 4-1 victory over La Liga strugglers Huesca to go top of the table.
Eden Hazard, on his first La Liga start this term, scored a stunner from long range and Karim Benzema made it two. The two goals, in the final five minutes of the first period, saw Real Madrid go in at half-time with a comfortable lead without playing well. Fede Valverde then made in three in the 53rd minute after some good Huesca pressure and that put the game beyond them.
David Ferreiro scored for Huesca 16 minutes from time to give Huesca a glimmer of hope, but they failed to kick on and Karim Benzema completed the scoring with his second goal after being set up by subsitute Rodrygo in the 90th minute.
Despite losing easily, Huesca had early chances which saw Rafa Mir hit the sidenetting and Javier Ontiveros hit off target in the opening 10 minutes. Even though Hazard had a good chance at the other end, Mir then had the ball in the back of the net after 20 minutes, but the flag was up for a clear offside. From that point on, the game changed.

Huesca keeper Andres Fernandez had to make a great save to deny Ramos as Zidane's men started to pick up and in the 40th minute, Valverde gave the ball to Eden Hazard who hit a 30 yard screamer with his left foot which left Fernandez with no chance.
As Huesca were crying out for half-time, Lucas Vazquez sent in a cross for Benzema who chested at the far post before volleying across Fernandez and into the far corner for 2-0.
Real made it three through Valverde after Benzema picked out the Uruguayan at the back post at the second time of asking and he hit into then corner. It was then time for the triple change which saw Rodrygo, Isco and Vinicius come on. Vinicius, who was criticised by Benzema in midweek, fed the Frenchman within minutes of coming on, but Benzema failed to hit the target.
16 minutes from time, Huesca scored when Rafa Mir passed for David Ferreiro to head in from inside the six yard box. The away side then enjoyed a good few minutes of pressure, but failed to kick on and in the 90th minute, Marcelo sent a ball to Rodrygo at the far post who headed for Benzema in the middle and he headed in to put the icing on the cake.
