Rafa Benitez won't go back to Newcastle, or at least for now. The English side is searching for Steve Bruce's replacement.
Bruce will manage Newcastle this Sunday for the very last time, in his 1000th game as a manager. After the Spurs game, the Saudi-led new owners will replace the English manager.
That's when Benitez came in. The Spanish manager coached 'The Magpies' from 2016 to 2019, before trying his luck in Chinese football. The Spanish manager won't be back at St. James' Park.
"Since the first day they approached me, I told Everton's board everything. They have nothing to worry about that's why I decided to stay here, I am happy here. I'm trying to improve everything I can here, to focus on the team, I keep to my word and I keep working", he said ahead of the Premier League clash against West Ham.
Newcastle will have to keep looking for a manager that takes on their ambitious challenge.
