A promising talent that seems destined to break in to the English national team does not always have the form, or the luck, to fulfil that potential. Luckily for Ben Chilwell, that has not happened to him.
The left back is now a regular in Leicester's team and has become one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League. Combining great defensive instincts and reading of the game, as well as knowing when to bomb forward, he managed to get his chance for the first time in the England squad just over a month ago in the friendly against Switzerland.
He got that break thanks to injuries to Danny Rose and Luke Shaw, and has made the most of the opportunities he has received as a result.
"It's been a crazy few weeks. I am taking it in my stride. But I feel like now I have just got to push on. I want to have a season like this few weeks has been. So I need to keep working hard and push on further." the full-back told the 'Daily Mail'
"I woke up the morning after the Spain game obviously very happy but I don't feel like I'm any different. I am still the same person. I want to go into training and work hard and that is just me personally.
"I am not going to sit back and feel like 'Ah I had a good game in Spain, blah blah blah, whatever'. I keep progressing."
