The two new MLS franchises can now put a face to their future opponents. The league determined the conference that both franchises will play in after the expansion: Inter Miami will be in the Eastern Conference and Nashville SC will be in the Western Conference.
With this format, it is guaranteed that there are 13 teams in each Conference and there isn't a league that has more teams. It means that the regular season that has existed until now will remain the same.
The toughest teams that David Beckham's side will have to face are Atlanta United, Philadelphia Union, Red Bulls, DC United, and Toronto FC. Nashville's toughest opponents will be Los Angeles FC, LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders and Timbers.
The MLS will continue its expansion in the future as there are 3 clubs that have still to join. This will happen in 2021 when Austin FC will be the next franchise to arrive. The season after it will be Sacramento FC and St. Louis, so during these dates, the competition could suffer a change.
