Both the club and Spain as a nation will be keeping a close eye on how next Monday unfolds, with the Catalonian govenment suggesting that it will declare unilateral independence from Spain in the wake of last week's referendum.
Should it go ahead, that decision will only serve to create more doubts as to where Barca's future lies, be it in La Liga or elsewhere, with club presiden Josep Maria Bartomeu recently refusing to rule out the possibility of Barca joining another European league.
However, such a move would not come about in the short term and would absolutely not happen this season. Neither the club nor the Spanish league is in any rush to move on, with Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reporting that the 'blaugrana' would stay put and resume normal service for the rest of this season at the very least.
Should independence be declared, Barca would be left with a decision to make with regard to next season, but until the Catalan government does so, the club are refusing to make hard and fast plans and plan simply to cross that bridge when it comes to it.
