This Monday, Toni Kroos signed a contract renewal with Real Madrid which should see him wear the "Merengues" outfit until 2023. The German, who entered the pools to leave the club this summer, confessed at a press conference that he never thought of leaving throughout the season despite the offers that came.
Hours later, on the club's TV station, Kroos talked about his feelings regarding the contract extension: "I'm very happy about the renewal. I hope to be here many more years and achieve many more successes. It's a very special day," he said.
For Kroos, continuing in Madrid implies the need to "change the feeling of last season and have more success". He, of course, knows the recipe for sucess more than most. "We know how it works, we have demonstrated in previous years and I'm sure we're going to do it," he said.
When asked about Zidane, he said that "the experience he has as a coach helps him a lot". The Frenchman "understands the dressing room" and has "a game idea" that Kroos likes: "I like the control of the ball, the pressure up ... We have won a lot and hopefully we will do it again".
"We have to rest the body and the mind so that later we start from the beginning the season with a lot of desire and motivation to do better," he said in relation to the expectations for next year, which will also be high for the fans: "We are going to improve a lot, I'm very happy".
