Bayern Munich got their season of to the perfect start by beating German Cup winners Borussia Dortmund, but Ancelotti's side were made to work for their win.
Borussia Dortmund were the better side in the first-half but failed to make their dominance count. In the early stages of the game, Aubameyang appeared to be through on goal, but the Gabon international's effort was blocked by Javi Martinez.
Ousmane Dembele then had two chances on the half hour mark. He had a tame effort saved by Neuer, before cutting inside from the left wing to fire his shot over the bar.
Adrian Romas then had an attempt save from Neuer, as it looked like it just wasn't going to happen for Tuchel's side.
However, despite Dortmund being on top, the best chance of the half fell to Arturo Vidal. The Bayern midfielder looked odds-on to score with a close range header, but Burki pulled off an unbelievable save to deny the Chilean.
In the second half, Dortmund started bright once again. Passlack had a powerful effort saved by Neuer, who just wasn't going to be beaten on the night.
Bayern Munich made Dortmund pay for their inability to convert chances into goals. Once again, Vidal had a shot which was well saved by Burki, but the midfielder pounced on the rebound to put his side in the lead.
20 minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead, with former Dortmund defender Mats Hummels playing a hand in the goal. Hummels won a header from a corner, only for the ball to drop to Muller.
Bayern held out for the win, but Dortmund will be encouraged with the way they played. Ancelotti will inevitably be pleased with his side's resillience to keep out a dangerous Dortmund side. Meanwhile, depite disappointment for Tuchel, he will know the final outcome could have been ever so different if his side were more clinical on the night.
