The Spaniard has come under fire as of late, and with Bayern failing in big games of late, the spotlight has intensified. Munich have walked away with the Bundesliga this season, but they once again failed to make it past the semi-finals of the Champions League. They also recently lost to Frankfurt in the German cup final.
Speaking with 'Sport Bild', former Bayern player Lothar Matthaus has slammed Thiago, saying he is disappointed by his performance. "Thiago hasn't made the difference in the big games," Mathaus said. "I actually rate him but he's been a shadow of his former self recently."
"Thiago has disappointed me in the past few weeks. I don't know where his head is. With these performances, he's not a player for Bayern Munich."
This leads the former midfielder to feel that Bayern should think about selling the Spaniard. "If a suitable offer is on the table, then Bayern should think about it," he said.
Thiago faces stiff competition in the midfield role, with Thomas Muller, James Rodriguez, Corentin Tolisso, Sebastian Rudy, Arturo Vidal and new signing Leon Goretzka all vying for a spot in the team.
Thiago has previously been linked with Manchester United, but of late it is Manchester City who have been rumoured to have shown interest, with Pep Guardiola reportedly keen on a reunion with the player he brought with him from Barcelona to Bayern.
