Bayern's young star Musiala was about to go to Portugal

'The Athletic' reports that Benfica were very close to signing Jamal Musiala in the last few transfer windows. Now, he is going through his best moment and Bayern are working on renewing him. 

Musiala has made 24 appearances this season. He is playing frequently under Flick, who has rated him highly from the first moment when he moved to Bavaria from Chelsea in 2019. Flick also got him promoted to the first team. 

He has also performed in the Champions League where he got an important goal against Lazio. The player has managed to play regularly despite not starting many games. 

Bayern are working on a new contract as it expires in June 2022 and several top clubs are after him. At the moment, Musiala does not have time to get distracted.
