Wednesday night went from bad to worse for Bayern. Not only did they suffer a 2-1 home defeat to Madrid in the first instalment of their semi-final showdown but they lost three players to injury.
Boateng, Robben and Martinez had to withdraw early and the club have since given their supporters an update through their official Twitter account.
The accompanying statement read: "Jerome Boateng, Arjen Robben and Javi Martínez were all substituted with injuries in the course of Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final first leg against Real Madrid.
"Boateng sustained damage to the adductor muscles in his left thigh. Robben also has an injury in his left groin triggered by a muscle disorder, while Martínez suffered bruising on the head. The Spaniard has been ordered to sit out squad training for the next two days.
It concluded: "The players were examined and the injuries diagnosed by FC Bayern chief medical officer Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt on Thursday morning.
Bayern refused to give a timescale for Boateng and Robben's recoveries but speculation has suggested that the former is now a major doubt for the World Cup, which starts on June 14.
