There is always debate over who plays the best football, but stats show that the answer is Bayern Munich. Since 2000, they have the best win percentage out of any team.

Having a look at ProFootballDB data, we have had a look at who is doing the best in the 21st century. Not the most exciting team to watch, but who has won the most. And that is Bayern Munich. Barcelona have scored the most goals.

If we look at the five major European leagues plus the Champions League and Europa League, the Bavarians have got a win percentage of 65.7% (569 wins in 866 games).

That said, Barcelona are not far behind Bayern with an average of 65.44%. The Catalans won more games (623) but they have played 952 games.

Real Madrid are in third on 64.87% (615 wins in 948 games). Juve (62.26%) are the only other team above 60%.

Bayern are also top even when you just take league games into account. In that case, Hans Flick's men have an even better average (68.19% (448 wins in 657 matches). Barca and Real Madrid are second and third on 66.58 and 66.35 because Barca have one extra win and played one less match.

United, Arsenal and Chelsea are next (61.64, 60.05 and 56.79), Lyon and Liverpool are tied on 54.86 while Inter have 54.38.

The only way to get a different leader is by excluding the domestic leagues from the study. In other words, just look at who has won more just in Champions League matches or in Champions League and Europa League combined. In both cases, Barcelona come out on top

127 wins in 205 matches means Barca are on top (61.95%) in the 21st century. Real Madrid with 59.81 are second and Bayern on 58.97 are third. Porto are also in the top ten.

By adding the Europa League to the study, you still have the same top three and Barca even have a slightly larger advantage. Sevilla are in fourth when you include the Europa League on 55.63% due to their great record in this competition.
