Bayern Munich have fined Jerome Boateng for skipping quarantine and having a car accident, thus acting against the club's own guidelines.
The German defender decided to leave the city of Munich in his car to see his son, despite the recommendations of the country's health authorities, who announced to all citizens the need to remain confined to their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is an exemplary financial penalty for Boateng, as Bayern have announced that the amount their player will have to pay will be donated to the city's hospitals.
Bayern informed of the economic sanction to his player through an official statement: "Jerome Boateng, a defender of Bayern, left the city of Munich on Tuesday without authorization from the club."
"By leaving his place of residence, Boateng acted against the FCB guidelines, which regulate the behaviour of the club's players in the current situation in accordance with the mobility restrictions established by the state of Bavaria and the recommendations of the health authorities," he continues.
"Bayern considers that it must set an example for society. As a result of this infringement, the club has decided to fine Boateng. The amount will be donated to hospitals in Munich," the statement said.
