The match against SPAL meant Cristiano Ronaldo continued his amazing goalscoring form in Serie A. The striker scored in his 11th straight Serie A game. Only Fabio Quagliarella and Gabriel Batistuta have achieved that feat.
The Argentine did not hesitate in congratulating the star on social media although he did seem to have a little dig at him. "Congratulations, Cristiano, for the record! The only thing is that I think it's easier when you rest," he told the ex-player.
That was in reference to the match against Brescia in which Cristiano Ronaldo was not selected by Sarri so that he could rest.
Batistuta's record, however, did come in eleven successive matches, the first 11 of the 1994-95 season. As well as those 11, he scored in his previous two Serie A appearances in the 1992-93 season. He could not score in the 1993-94 campaign as Fiorentina were in Serie B after getting relegated.
