Gavi will continue to be, because of La Liga, a Barca Atletic player. The chiefs of the league have not allowed Barcelona to register the player as a full member of the first team.
Barcelona were hoping that, with Memphis Depay's departure to Atletico Madrid, and Gerard Pique's now official retirement, they were going to be able to register Gavi in the first team.
However, according to reports from 'Marca' and 'RAC1', the club have not reduced their wage bill enough to get pas the 'Financial Fair Play' regulations and sign Gavi up to the first team.
It is understood that there are more requirements for La Liga, as well as reducing the wage bill from Depay and Pique's departure, to open up signing new players. 'Marca' claimed that the club are still not complying with two articles, numbers 101 and 93.6.
The first one is that the new deals are taken into account with the wage bill for next year. And the second one is that the clubs with high incomes have got to present a liquid assest plan.
Therefore, Gavi will not be able to be registered as a first team player until the next transfer window opens in July, ahead of the new season.
