Barcelona are still alive and kicking in three competitions and they could achieve another historic treble, but they know that there are several other tasks to complete ahead of next season.
The first of which is the left-winger. With Jordi Alba the only player in the first-team available to Valverde at the moment, the coach has had to call upon Sergi Roberto and even Nelson Semedo to fill the position while Jordi Alba is on international duty.
For that reason, Barca is in the market for another left-winger. Alex Moreno, the Rayo Vallecano player and Alberto Moreno, from Liverpool, have been approached by Barcelona, although neither of those two have made a decision thus far.
The second section of the squad that requires reinforcements before next season is in defence, more precisely a full-back. Pique is having one of the best seasons of his life, if not the best and Lenglet is becoming one of the central figures at the back for Barca. However, between those two, Barca have problems: Umtiti has been injured, Vermaelen continues to suffer with physical and mental setbacks and so for now they rely on Todibo and Murillo.
As a result, Barcelona have approached Matthijs de Ligt. The Ajax full-back is the main candidate to move to Barcelona, who has already put plans in place to sign him.
The third and final section of the squad to reinforce is the forwards, Barcelona need a number 9 for when Luis Suarez eventually retires. They tried to sign Munir this season but the forward ended up going to Sevilla over the winter transfer window.
As well as for the defence, only one name has been linked with the Barcelona forward line. And that is Luka Jovic, the Eintracht Frankfurt striker, since he has scored more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo. His transfer could cost 60 million euros, a price which his teammate Goncalo Paciencia is not surprised by.
So, the Barcelona offices are working hard ahead of next season. With De Jong already signed, they have predicted a busy summer in order to bolster the squad.
