Barcelona's future, one by one

Marc Andre Ter Stegen 

Key piece of the project, vital in the present and future of Barcelona. He has a contract and is the main goalkeeper. One of the best of the season.

Jasper Cillessen 

The Dutchman has already said publicly that he wants more minutes. The Cup is not enough for him. Benfica are following his footsteps, although they he is also being watched by English and even Spanish clubs.

Nelson Semedo

He's played 45 games, but he has not really found a place in the starting eleven. He has been called out by some for his tactical errors in important games.  

Gerard Pique 

Along with Messi, Pique has been one of the best Barcelona players this season. He has once again cemented his place as a leader within the team, and has become a central part of the Barcelona mission. However, he is getting old, so the club will have to start thinking about his replacement sooner than later. 

Clement Lenglet 

The French center has responded to the challenge in his first year as a Barcelona player, especially . Unless he is surprised, he will continue.

Thomas Vermaelen

Belgian central veteran finishes contract. He has barely been seen in 12 matches. He will not continue.

Jean-Clair Todibo

A project of future arrived from Toulouse. We have to give it time. He has only played two games.

Jeison Murillo 

Arrived in December as ceded, has barely had continuity. He arrived because of the problems in defense, but Piqué and Lenglet closed the site.

Jordi Alba 

It has recently renewed until 2024. He has signed one of the best seasons of his life, but fell completely to Liverpool at Anfield and in the Cup final. Right now, he's a stronghold at Barça.

Samuel Umtiti

His future at Barça is a mystery. After a stellar year, crowned by the World Cup in Russia, his knee has done nothing but give him problems. In the club they are angry about his refusal to undergo surgery.

Sergi Roberto

The academy product has been a constant fixture for Valverde, although he has again shown defensive deficiencies in top-elite matches. Another player who was deeply affected by the poor end of season. 

Ivan Rakitic

The Croatian midfielder has played almost everything with Valverde, with more than 50 games behind him. His season has had ups and downs. He wants to renew his contract and the club are thinking about it. He ended up pissed when he was changed in the Cup final. There are some doubts around his continuity. 

Sergio Busquets

For the first time in his career, Sergio Busquets has experienced an unusual situation for him: he has heard whistles, albeitt shy, from the stands. He disappeared in Anfield, and at almost 31 years has given some symptom of physical decline. He is fixed but has been exposed. Contract until 2023.

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho's season has been abysmal. The most expensive signing in the history of FC Barcelona was wrecked. In the year that he had to take a step forward, he didn't perform either as a winger or as an insider. Booed by the crowd, his future seems to be outside the Camp Nou. Although Barça faces the problem of replacing him.

Arthur Melo

His performance has pleased everyone in his first year as azulgrana, although it has slightly declined. On a numerical level, he has excelled with more than 40 matches. Arthur should be in Barcelona's future. 

Arturo Vidal

He came to be a complementary player and ended up playing 53 games. The Chilean has won over the Camp Nou for his dedication, courage and sparkles of quality. Messi wants him to continue. 

Carles Aleñá

In his first year as a member of the first team he has offered good performances. Young and with potential, Barca's renovation will need more players like Aleña. 

Rafinha

When he was starting to be important in the season, he injured his knee. He has one year left on his contract.

Luis Suarez

Suarez's season was remarkable, albeit with worse data than ever: 25 goals, the same as in his first year but with six games less (49 and 43). Messi's lieutenant, he has a two-year contract. But his 32 years of age are starting to weight on his performances, and a replacement will be needed soonar than later. 

Ousmane Dembele

When he was healthy, he played well and scored goals. The French striker is a bet for the future, beyond his delay in training and other non-sporting details. Injuries have hit him again. Barça is waiting for him to get as good as he could be. 

Malcolm

It was noted that Valverde never had too much faith in him. He scored for Inter, he scored for Madrid, he left some sparkle of quality. His future at Barcelona is a mystery.

Kevin-Prince Boateng

He was signed to give Suarez a rest but he barely made appearances, as he was not even in the final of the Cup that Suarez did not play after having surgery. He will return to Sassuolo, who loaned him to Barcelona for two million euros. Not a profitable business.

Leo Messi

What can we say about Leo Messi, who with 36 goals in the league win his sixth Golden Shoe. Outstanding season at the individual level, he was one of the few that generated anything in the Anfield disaster or defeat in the Cup final. Barcelona must be rebuilt around the Argentinian, although he will soon be 32.

Denis Suarez

Currently on loan at Arsenal. He hasn't found his place in London, as he hasn't done so in Barcelona either. He has a contract until 2021 but it seems difficult for him to continue.

André Gomes

The Portuguese has done better at Everton than Denis at Arsenal. With Valverde, in his first year, he played a few minutes. Even so, he hasn't come to fruition in a Barcelona where the pressure was too much for him. He signed until 2021.

Marc Cucurella

He has had a good year in Eibar, he is about to see what fit he can have in Barcelona. If his current club buys him, the Catalan can always get him back. 

Douglas

Did you remember Douglas? Don't worry, his days as a Barcelona player are numbered. His end of cession in Turkey coincides with his end of contract in Barcelona. In Sivasspor he has done well, however: 32 games, three goals and seven assists.

Ernesto Valverde

Recently renewed until 2020 and with an optional campaign, Bartomeu, Messi or Pique have publicly backed the coach despite recent disappointments. His first two years have ended with Leagues, his immobility in Champions is his biggest challenge.
