Barcelona pay La Liga Braithwaite's release clause
Wednesday could be d-day for Martin Braithwaite's future. Barcelona could make his signing official frot eh next 3 and a half seasons, according to 'Sport'.
'Marca' assured that Barcelona have now got in contact with Leganés to sign Braithwaite. When Leganés weren't negotiating, Barca announced that they will pay his release clause in the meeting that took place on Wednesday.
Then, 'Mundo Deportivo' affirmed that Barcelona had already paid La Liga the 18 million euros to sign Braithwaite.
Quique Setién has been key in Barcelona's decision to opt for Braithwaite. He preferred the Dane ahead of Ángel due to his versatility in the box.
The striker's agent, Ali Dursun, was in Barcelona the last few days to try and speed up the deal. On Tuesday, he went to Barca's training ground to iron out the details and accept the terms of the agreement.
In this way, Braithwaite will arrive at Barca for 18 million euros, a higher price than Ángel and which some fans have criticised upon seeing Haaland sign for Dortmund for 20 million.
The Camp Nou could welcome Braithwaite on Thursday for his presentation. If so, the Dane could play his first Barca match against Eibar.
With Braithwaite's exit, Leganés will be affected in attack just when they need the Dane's goals the most. Leganés want get permission from the RFEF and La Liga in order to sign a striker, something that currently isn't allowed.
