The saga with Eric García and Memphis Depay was the big disappointment on Monday for Barcelona and Ronald Koeman, who were left without the players they most desired for the current campaign.
At least, until January it seems that they won't be able to sign any of the two, despite both their contracts ending in 2021 and their teams having shown a willingness to let them leave.
With regards to Depay, it was known that Lyon even tried to facilitate the transfer reducing their economic aspirations quite a bit. The French side lowered the price by 5 million, but Barcelona couldn't undergo the deal.
With Eric García, who was going to cost less, things were different. According to 'Marca', Barcelona and Manchester City didn't agree because of 2 million euros.
Barcelona stood firm on 10 million fixed and 8 in variables and City wanted the complete sum to reach 20.
Barca will consider his signing in January again, which, as long as Eric García doesn't renew with City, will lead to an even lower offer from Barca, who seem to have an agreement with their former footballer and will carry it out by the summer of 2021 at the latest.
The same could happen with Depay, although the commitment with the attacker isn't so evident and it could be that in a few months Barcelona have other targets. However, Koeman continues yearning for them both.
