Every time he gets the chance, Xavi sends a message to the Barca board on Frenkie de Jong. For the boss, he is a key player although his future depends on the situation at Barcelona.
Joan Laporta, in an interview with 'L'Esportiu', admitted that Barca have offers on the table for the Dutchman: "De Jong? He's got quality; he knows our system and he's a player who is sought after in the market. We're received offers, but we think he must continue."
'Mundo Deportivo' says that Barca will only think about letting De Jong go if they can guarantee the arrival of a star player. Xavi is clear that he would only let him go for Robert Lewandowski or Bernardo Silva.
The Catalan coach undertstands that the Bayern attacker or City winger would give the team a boost. Therefore, if they have the opportunity to sign one of them, Barca will open the door to De Jong.
Bayern Munich and Man City were interested in De Jong in the past and, according to the Catalan paper, they are still interested. If either of these clubs ask for the Barca midfielder, Barcelona are still willing to sell him if that means Lewandowski or Bernardo Silva could go to the Camp Nou.
De Jong, if they ask him, is clear. 'Mundo Deportivo' says that his priority is continue at Barcelona, a club which he feels happy at and wants to triumph at but, like on many other occasions, the club's finances will have the final say.
