The record is held by Real Madrid as their more than impressive streak in front of goal saw them find the net in no fewer that 22 consecutive league Clásicos.
Now, almost 50 years later, Barcelona are in a position to be able to put that record to the test when the two sides face off at the Nou Camp on Sunday.
Should the 'Blaugrana' find the net in that one, they will etch their names into the history books alongside those of the Real squad by equaling the record.
Such is their current streak that the last time the club failed to find the net in a Clásico encounter was all the way back during the 2007/08 season when they slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home.
Since then it has been a story of goals, goals, goals for Barca, with more than a couple of servere hidings being dished out.
In total, the reigning LaLiga champions have scored 48 goals in their last 21 Clásicos, thus averaging more than two goals per game against the team that has dominated European football in recent years.
With Real Madrid in something akin to turmoil and Barcelona looking to take advantage by creating a gap at the top, Sunday's clash provides Ernesto Valverde's side to equal the record, with the clubs players no doubt already dreaming of going one better in the return game at the Bernabeu.
