Barca kept an option to buy Carrasco during Memphis transfer saga, which ended with the Dutchman joining the Metropolitano side in the winter transfer window. They would have liked to take the player to Camp Nou, but Atletico refused and, because of the Financial Fair Play, the club did not make any signings then either.
However, at FC Barcelona they want Carrasco to wear the blue and white jersey, no matter what. According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the club's reports are all favourable. The last ones, they would have been drafted this season.
Xavi has given him the go-ahead and he would have a place in his ranks. The problem then? The salary cap. Before they can move, the club have to balance their books and, right now, they can't do anything to guarantee Atletico Madrid that they will buy him.
Barcelona, for the moment, have not contacted the 'Colchoneros' to tell them that they are thinking of buying the Belgian, according to the same newspaper. And it could go on for a long time.
The 'Cules' have until 1st July to decide what to do with Carrasco. They are in no hurry and will take their time.
Meanwhile, Atletico are clear that they are not going to negotiate the price they signed the option to buy, which would be around 15 or 20 million euros. The Madrid side are waiting for Barca to make their intentions clear before going for Matheus Uribe, a Porto player, who would arrive to fill the position left by the '21'.
